Cons
Nerval Corporation talks a lot about being a “family,” but the reality behind the scenes is very different. There is clear favoritism within the company, and certain employees can get away with almost anything, including workplace bullying and harassment, while others are blamed or ignored when they raise concerns. Job titles here mean very little because employees are expected to do the work of multiple people while being paid extremely low wages. The workload is overwhelming, expectations are unrealistic, and management still expects perfection despite understaffing and poor organization. There is little to no opportunity for growth or advancement. Promises about raises, promotions, or future opportunities are frequently made but rarely followed through on. Instead, employees are often made to feel undeserving of even basic recognition or fair compensation. Many long-term employees have gone years without meaningful raises, and in some cases, raises are as little as a few cents. The workplace culture is extremely unhealthy. Upper management has used unprofessional language and made inappropriate comments about employees’ bodies and eating habits, which is completely unacceptable in any professional environment. Bullying and gossip are common, and favorite employees openly talk about coworkers in front of them in shared spaces like the lunchroom. Personally, I avoided becoming a target mainly by keeping to myself and staying away from the “favorites,” but I witnessed multiple situations involving workplace harassment from both management and certain favorite employees. Many workers are aware of these issues but stay silent because they fear retaliation, harassment, or losing their jobs. The environment becomes mentally exhausting very quickly. Employees are constantly drained, stressed, and thinking about work even after hours. The high turnover rate speaks for itself. Unfortunately, many of the positive reviews do not reflect the actual employee experience and appear to come from people personally connected to the company. Overall, this company seriously needs to improve its workplace culture, professionalism, employee treatment, and compensation practices.
