Not the best place to work - Lactation Consultant Nest Collaborative Employee Review

Pros

It’s telehealth so you can work from anywhere which can be good.

Cons

The company doesn’t allow you to alter your schedule that they set for you at all without major push back. They micromanage your time severely down to the minute. There is no autonomy for your advice or support you give. You are pretty much a robot which doesn’t work in a field that’s not black or white. Consults are short so not enough time to give parents the full help that they need unless they have multiple back to back consults. There is little wiggle room in your schedule for anything. They do monthly chart reviews where they pick apart your charting and they base your performance on percentages of the company not give room for specific situations with clients that may happen.

Pros

Love being able to help so many families. Really feels like a collaborative team, which is rare for a WFH position. Leadership is responsive and supportive.

Cons

Days can be super busy seeing a lot of patients, which might take some getting used to.

Pros

Helping families in need of lactation care with telehealth

Cons

Nest has constant turn over, with IBCLC's, management, CEO's etc. Nest does not value their IBCLC's. They are constantly making changes that create a negative experience for both the IBCLC's and the patients. The IBCLC's are told with very minimal warning about big changes in the way they are to care for their patients. 30 minutes is not enough time to provide needed care for new patients, so follow up appointments are strongly encouraged and you will be penalized if you have a low follow up rate. IBCLC's work hard to provide the best care under a huge time crunch with trying to review the history, care for the patient, and chart, before the next back to back appointments. All of this for the little pay. Your job is not safe at Nest. There are constant changes, and demands made, and if you are not a pushover or passive person, you will be forced to leave once you become aware of this behavior. Management does not have your back. It is all a fake facade. The IBCLC's however are amazing, and do a wonderful job. You will not get the respect, and pay that you deserve by working for Nest. The very rare and infrequent feedback that is requested is not addressed.
