Pros
After starting at NYLGBS four years ago, I made my way through 3 managers. The third manager, and my current manager, CHANGED EVERYTHING. I get dedicated time every week to discuss claims and concerns. I can reach out anytime for guidance and support. And while claims are complicated and can be very frustrating, the support has been phenomenal. I pray NYL holds on to this manager and that the company culture embraces how they treat their team. The raises/bonuses are good and are performance based which is awesome. PTO-Summer Fridays are really nice offering a few extra paid hours off every other Friday in the summer. Work from home! Good benefits! They give the day after Thanksgiving off and often let employees leave early the day before a holiday.
Cons
Burn out is inevitable. NYL should consider updating their PTO. I have one more year to go to get a third week of vacation time. I often find needing to spread time off out, taking a day here and there to avoid mental burnout. The job is not easy, claims are complicated, and it’s often difficult to find procedural processes. This can be frustrating. Promotions repeatedly give to those who do not keep claims up to date. Resulting is poor claims management and adding stress to whoever gets their claims when they get promoted.
