Pros
The salary and benefits are decent for a government job. Some coworkers are hardworking and supportive, but they are stretched thin.
Cons
• Severely unbalanced workload: employees who consistently meet deadlines are given even more work, while others who contribute little face no consequences. • The department is excessively top-heavy, with too many supervisors and not enough support for core underwriting tasks. • Management is disengaged and allows external Safety Group managers to behave unprofessionally — including yelling at underwriters and making unreasonable demands. • Promotions are not based on merit or performance, but rather on favoritism and personal connections. Unfortunately, race and insider relationships also seem to play a role. • The overall work environment is toxic, with no real accountability or support for employee well-being. • Little to no opportunity for career growth unless you’re part of an inner circle.
