Good company, but long hours - Manager Newrez Employee Review

Pros

Shellpoint is a growing company with lots of opportunities.

Cons

The culture heavily depends on which department you work in. In my department it was strongly encouraged for management to work long hours, and there was a culture where it was normal for salaried employees to come in on weekends to get the job done. Not great work life balance.

Pros

Competitive compensation, exposure to a fast-paced mortgage servicing environment, and the opportunity to work with many hardworking professionals.

Cons

While accountability and policy adherence are important, I found the coaching and performance management process to be inconsistent. In my case, concerns that ultimately led to my separation were based on examples spanning many months, yet they were never addressed through coaching or corrective feedback when they occurred. This made it difficult to identify and correct issues before they escalated. After many years with the company and no prior disciplinary history, I would have appreciated a more proactive approach to employee development and communication. Managers have many responsibilities, but regular feedback and timely coaching should remain a priority to help employees succeed and avoid preventable outcomes.
