Pros
The product itself and intention behind Nextdoor showed initial promise and a market need back in the early 2010's and up until summer 2019. Neighbours and how neighbours used / would need to use Nextdoor was at the forefront of every decision and design implementation of the app. Colleagues are also great, and make you feel as though you aren't alone in your burnout
Cons
Post summer 2019, when the company went public the stock price tanked and as a result every decision since then has been to increase revenue and the number of neighbours on the platform. There is no decision made to improve how real people can build meaningful connections as there is nothing done to remove toxic content from the newsfeed, stop fraudsters from joining, scammers, MLM individuals and so much more. It's simply become a breeding ground for people to spread hate. Since the November '23 layoffs, some employees have the responsibility and workload of 4+ people and compensation has not been adjusted accordingly. Everyone is waiting for compensation cycles upcoming at the end of March and not a single person is expecting to be valued correctly and I feel there will be further losses in staff, more burnout to come and an even worse morale amongst those that will remain
