Pros
Lots of opportunity to rise up, as they only promote within the company, and are looking to eventually replace the Japanese expatriate managers with American ones. Great exposure to, and high potential to expand your network in the food industry. Management and coworkers work as a team to help you learn sales techniques, so no experience is needed as long as you are willing and enthusiastic to learn. Very stable company as it is bankrolled by a large established Japanese holdings company which will practically never go bankrupt. Also sales has been growing at a high rate for the past few years and don't seem to be stopping anytime soon. Lot's of travelling to expand business. (You will earn a ton of airline miles) Objectively great products that sell themselves. Although very Japanese, when you have suggestions or advice with sound logic behind it, management will try to listen. Decent Benefits.
Cons
As many others have mentioned, there are parts of the company's management style which are still quite Japanese. Although not apparent at first, management does have concrete reasons regarding why the company is run a certain way. Regardless, I have seen the strides they are making in order to assimilate the working culture and company with the local environment. If you haven't had exposure to working in a Japanese company or living in Japan you may feel a slight culture shock.
