Pros
Pretty low-stress, and doesn't take much skill. Lots of downtime, with the assumption that you have to be ready for very busy days every once in a while. Pay is decent for the work effort normally taken.
Cons
Some dishonest sales practices, which lead to confusing quotes, which messes with communication with operations, which quickly trickles down to us techs not knowing what to do or just plain having the wrong information. You're lucky if you get a 2% merit increase each year, even after exceptionally strong performance. I don't feel recognized for my contributions. Promises of internal promotions but the process is extremely slow if it happens at all. Because of the hotel AV industry (not the company/s fault), times, schedules, quotes, and other details can change day of, and schedules can only be made a week in advance. This makes it extremely hard to find a work-life balance. Availability is expected and you have to set hard boundaries coming in or you'll find yourself run over.
