Pros

Competitive pay Good benefits Fair amount of PTO Room for growth

Cons

Change management and cross-department collaboration are limited and often ineffective. There is a strong focus on recruiting and promoting external or newer talent, while long-tenured employees with ten or more years of service receive limited recognition. The continued outsourcing of back-office roles has resulted in multiple rounds of company-wide layoffs, creating ongoing uncertainty for employees. Additionally, while employee feedback is collected through surveys, the organization does not consistently use this input to drive meaningful improvements. In some cases, employees feel discouraged from providing candid feedback due to how low scores are perceived and addressed. Overall, the company appears to be increasingly driven by financial priorities, with significantly less emphasis on employee engagement, development, and retention than in the past.

Pros

The orientation process at OceanFirst Bank was exceptionally well executed. It created a welcoming, non-intimidating environment where interns were introduced to the company’s culture and daily operations. Senior leaders—including the CEO, treasurer, and other top executives—took the time to speak about their roles and their contributions to fostering that culture. Interns were also given valuable opportunities to network and connect with one another. Overall, the experience was both engaging and highly enjoyable.
