Cons
The pay is low. I wasn’t properly trained. I spent most of time time writing short food “news” stories that were 90% a plug for the recipe app. The manager for the “food team” who is also the cofounder didn’t give anyone proper training and is clearly not interested in anything but promoting her app and self. I wasn’t allowed to have my own byline even though i have years of writing experience - but I’m glad about this since the content was really terrible and poorly reviewed. Really the problem is everyone on that team had just started an no one had been taught how to do things correctly...even though our “leader” claimed she’s worked in publishing for years. I’ve never been at a publication that did things she said were important... Plus the pay was low and hours were ridiculous. Think emails and messages every hour of the night- not normal at any other job. I left a good job to come here and i would hate to see someone else do the same.
