Pros
Before the restructuring, it had a progressive mission, courageously addressed issues and supported communities others wouldn’t, and provided a safety net for fighting authoritarian regimes.
Cons
Ironically, the organization that once prided itself on valuing knowledge, progressive ideals, and the ability to influence political outcomes is now led by a management team that has completely misread global trends and failed to position OSF in response to the anticipated democratic backsliding (the warning signs were visible even at the start of the restructuring). Some of the individuals who remain in leadership roles, whom I know personally, embody values that run contrary to what OSF once stood for. Critical voices were laid off across all levels, while those who sought to please the new Board Chair have stayed on.
