Good People to work with, but can be monotonous work - Instructor OpenDoor Services Employee Review

Pros

The people that run this company are nice to work with, and I enjoyed working with most of the consumers. The company is run professionally, and they provide employees with training. You do not need any experience in the field to work there. As an "instructor", you are assigned 3-4 consumers (developmentally disabled adults) that you are responsible for. The hours are good for a parent, or a night student. You work Mon- Fri, and are typically off around 3:30

Cons

The daily work gets monotonous. You tend to do the same things over and over again. As an instructor, your job is to take the consumers in your care out into the community to learn living skills, and integrate into the community. But there is only so many options of where to go/what to do. So it quickly gets old. Also, some of the consumers have difficult to deal with behaviors. It can be stressful and frustrating. You have to use your own vehicle to transport consumers, and so you need a reliable vehicle that you are willing to put wear on.
