Pros

Working at Optix has been a rewarding experience for me. As a growing SaaS company, the pace is fast and there is always something new to learn. You are encouraged to take ownership, solve problems, and contribute ideas beyond your day-to-day responsibilities. What stands out most is how approachable the leadership team is. It is not unusual to discuss ideas directly with Product leaders, Engineering, or even the CEO and receive thoughtful feedback. The work environment is calm, supportive, and collaborative. Everyone is focused on their own work, but people are always willing to help when needed. For people who want to learn how a SaaS company operates across support, product, and technical teams, there is a lot of room for growth.

Cons

The learning curve can be steep, especially during the transition from training into owning responsibilities independently. As with many startups, processes continue to evolve, and employees are often expected to adapt quickly to changing priorities. People who prefer highly structured environments or narrowly defined responsibilities may find the pace challenging at times.

Pros

During my time at this company, I felt supported not only as a professional but also as an individual. Leadership genuinely invests in employees’ development, offering opportunities for growth, learning, and career advancement. The culture encourages open communication, collaboration, and recognition of effort. It’s refreshing to be part of a workplace that understands people are its greatest asset. I would recommend this company to anyone seeking a positive and growth-oriented environment

Pros

OK to get your foot in the door as a first job. You get to/have to wear multiple hats.

Cons

This is the startup they warned you about. Everything is for show...there’s a huge focus on appearances but very little substance. The CEO micromanages every detail yet consistently fails to deliver on promises. The “beautiful Gastown office” is actually a tiny, awkward work-live space that feels more like a friend’s apartment than a professional office. Salaries are well below market, and the company will try to substitute stock options for fair compensation. Upper management is dominated by family and friends, leaving no room for growth or advancement. Employees are expected to bring their own laptops, and team events are cheap, inconvenient, and more about optics than actual engagement. Work is frequently nitpicked over minor spacing or typos, while substantive feedback and guidance are absent. This is not a place to build a career.
