Pros
Short commute, lots of nature. Flagship Engineering college, lots of educational opportunity.
Cons
Constant budget crunches, furlows, and hiring freezes. Football seems to be a bigger priority than education. Drama prone academic administration -- fired department heads, local newspaper publishing letter to the editor, leading to fired deans. Little opportunity for upward promotion -- faculty and administration seem retire on death's bed, so don't expect to progress anywhere quickly as most positions are treated as national searches. Administrative functions seem poorly managed, and underinvested in.
