Pros
This company has amazing heart and amazing potential! The work space and employees are super-creative and the heart of the business is to "Be a Force For Good!" and empower women to support their families. When I worked there they gave us VTO (paid time off to volunteer) and were constantly organizing opportunities to give back to the community. I absolutely LOVED their giving attitude and culture of collaboration and creativity. When they had layoffs, they provided us with very generous severance, which was unexpected, especially for me who was there only 9 months.
Cons
This is a privately owned company and the leadership is very secretive and offers little transparency. 20% of the workforce at The Next was laid off with no warning in January 2015, and I was one of those people laid off. I didn't see it coming, I was provided with no explanation as to why they layoffs were happening, and neither were the people who remained at the company. It is my belief that the company is struggling to meet sales goals right now, but this is speculation. Again, there is not much transparency on these matters at The Nest so there were a lot of rumors and theories, but no substantive reports. Another con is the high-maintenance attitude of Chrissy (part-owner) and other management. It seems like the last-minute "I want everything changed and done my way" attitude is awarded and these are the personalities that are promoted to the top. It's too bad because like I said, the staff is hugely talented and creative, and the rush-rush, last-minute attitude of some of those that are high up in leadership stress out the folks who are working their butts off day to day and doing an amazing job with their work.
