Pros
I'm not sure there is a Pro to working here. The contractual conditions make it very hard to recommend. I did enjoy my time there mostly but this is far outweighed by the negatives.
Cons
Without some hard negotiation you will be underpaid especially if you are not a professional or senior member of staff. Even then you will be offered 60% under what you expect. Expect to negotiate. You’re on three month probation but you are still on one week notice after that so you are essentially on probation forever. Your contract will have you on a 24x7x365 roster where they can essentially enforce you to work anytime anywhere and yes you’ve guessed it there’s an international working clause, not that this place will ever get an international contract. You’ll get 20 days annual leave (plus 8 BH) which strangely runs from June to May so you’re always out of sync with your loved ones who almost certainly, if they are in a normal job, will be on 25 days plus 8. You will be paid on the 15th which in itself isn’t too strange but it’s just another “thing”. This is possibly because they have load of trouble paying their bills every month but to be honest we all seemed to get paid on time. The benefits packages are terrible. The "Perks" were never given and have to be chased. Indeed most never ended up on the "perkbox" package mentioned in the other reviews and all requests for this to be offered are ignored. There’s nothing else benefit wise really other than they give you the absolute minimum pension package enforced by law. If you are legally entitled to “it” then of course they offer that and only that, you will not generally get more. Essentially you are treated like a call centre agent even if you are a senior professional. The contracts are written as such. They happily include unenforceable restrictive covenants so you are technically prevented from working in any other “telco” or supplier or customer for 6 months after leaving. The contract even states you can’t even remove your company laptop from your home, if you’re a home worker, without written permission. It’s a bit of a joke as contracts go but you will be expected to sign it or else. Most of the management team haven’t worked anywhere else, ever. You will find the few staff in the management team who were recruited externally are the driving force(s) in the company. The others all “grew up” in Origin and are now in positions there are not equipped to do. They seem to be getting on with it though and are been driven forward by an evidentially competent CEO and a select few in the management/exec team. They just don’t have the leadership structure or experience to progress as fast as they should. They need to recruit people from outside who know how to transform the business but if that’s you, just don’t forget you’ll need your own mobile and you’ll be on one week notice irrespective of your seniority. I’ll put this another way, if you already have a job, stay there. The grass is not greener. They are a joke and will treat you a disposable.
