Pros

- Incredibly collaborative working environment. - Very progressive HR policies when it comes to PTO, conflict transformation, and civic engagement. - Intentional effort by senior leadership to repair old patterns from previous leadership behaviors and support staff in their work and their lived experiences.

Cons

Orion is a very small nonprofit, and with that comes limited capacity for competitive salaries — they do their best to make up for that in other systems like PTO.

Pros

Berkshires offer a nice area to live arts and culture nearby main editor is very capable

Cons

Recruited out of college and was promised a place to live. Was not provided that and the salary for working full time was less than minimum wage! They would not let you get another job even part-time and insisted that you work waiting tables or nothing. Staff were rude, lazy and did not work! The assistant editors did not work and often lied and escaped doing actual work Owner was more interested in arranging furniture and how employees dressed than in getting any actual work done Very competitive atmosphere. Lot of work to be done but no one is doing it! When you contribute, assistant editors and the photo manager felt threatened. Cliquish environment. Political and argumentative constantly. Very bad financial management. Employees were not paid in the winter but new accessories were bought for the location! Not as advertised.
