Pros

* it's fun to work here! We're building something that nobody's ever done before. The combination of software, hardware, exploratory science, and a potentially huge sustainability impact alone makes Osmo a gem. * The startup culture is awesome, and not just in a "we're all tech bros" way. The team is serious about building and keeping a positive environment and makes it happen through focused effort to explore & adopt frameworks we like. * Leadership, with the help of the whole team, makes sure everyone knows what they're working on and how that connects to our current plan and our ultimate goal. Planning is as crisp as can be expected given our stage, and everyone participates in bringing up risks and making sure we address them at the right time with the right level of effort. * flexibility to be 80%-time and/or remote (for software folks) * Personally, I've found that the combination of remote time and onsite time makes sure the team really gels but I also get plenty of heads-down time in my own space. * We have convincing product-market fit which could make aquaculture substantially more sustainable - if we can just pull off our technological goals.

Cons

General startuppy stuff! * Technical risk - we're building something that nobody's ever done before. It's impossible to know whether it will work yet, but it's exciting to be here at this stage! * Leadership makes sure everything is in line with their values. In general this means better outcomes for employees - like the option to work 80% and remotely - but it also means that some things are still being figured out piece by piece. * it's a small startup without unlimited funding! They don't (yet) match top-tier salaries, health insurance or 401(k).

Cons

Things can change quickly, and you have to be ready for the ups and downs of a startup
