Pros
The people are the best thing about this company, and I do think the leadership team genuinely care about creating an open, inclusive, friendly company culture and putting out quality work
Cons
Due to the nature of the business and the struggling publishing industry, progression and training are non-existent. As the editorial teams are small (and made even smaller by a recent restructure with redundancies) you get stuck in roles at a certain level with no way to move up, and there are no pay rises to reflect your development, even if you're performing at a higher level, because there's no budget for it. So keeping motivated is really not easy as it's difficult to imagine a future within the company. Plus, there's no budget for training – they do put on talks by people around the business, which can be really helpful but are no replacement for a real qualification/professional training course. I think management are doing their best with what they've got, but the reality is they can't offer more due to the industry
