Pros
Good design, great clients, fun projects. Decent benefits, and some choice of health options. Great fringe benefits: celebrations, volunteer work days, holiday gift exchange, teambuilding Some great additional benefits/allowances for Associate and higher. Generally excellent work life balance. I had some truly insane weeks but they were rare and only during the busiest times. Bonus: late night team work sessions often provided dinner. Raises were merit based, and yes there was no annual cost of living adjustment. Merit raises were not necessarily regular but were significant. Someone here mentioned "random firings" I saw quite a few, and all were based on some underlying problems. Maybe random to an outsider, but all performance related.
Cons
Layoffs. The company majorly misjudged the market. (Note: not "75" that some people claim) As the company has expanded, the principals worked less with the most junior employees. I do agree that some talent fell through the cracks of proper acknowledgement and promotion. Attempt to pivot into new markets was only minimally successful, while other firms were very successful in doing so. PDR WAS a great place to work, a few years ago. For those who didn't see it: yes, the firm changed quite a bit with growth Communication is key. On my final big projects, communication between teams became a constant problem. Changes weren't communicated, and some people/teams had a hard time understanding the impact of changes to others.
