Pros

Interesting and dynamic work if you're into fluid mechanics. Proactive and receptive team that communicates well across departments. Technical supervisors/managers are excellent. Issues preventing your work being accomplished (material/design/tooling issues) can be acknowledged and worked through almost immediately. Lots of autonomy as an employee.

Cons

Pay is low for the cost of living for the area and the specialized nature of the work. You will have to juggle many different assignments and roles due to the small number of production staff. Career wise, you will not advance per se: as a technician, the work does not really change from level to level (everyone essentially plays musical chairs and works on everything that is on the table at that time), and the idea of stratified grades and types of technician are a recent organizational change. The salary amounts between grades do not differ all that much.

Pros

Lots of opportunities to learn, asking many different engineers. Chance to be exposed to a lot of aspects in in the aerospace industry. 9/80 schedule as well.

Cons

Only marginal room to grow on a smaller team

Pros

Other staff engineers that were former interns put me on a meaningful project, where I could grow my skills.

Cons

Frequent work with defense contractors. This is just a moral dilemma and wouldn't be a con for everyone.
