Pros

- Colleagues are generally lovely people trying their best through a really difficult atmosphere - Corporate structure gives it more organization than some other nonprofits (but the emphasis on hierarchy and titles is pretty outdated)

Cons

- This place is run on fear, which causes huge employee turnover, long work hours, and lack of creativity. Good ideas are squashed or never given a chance to come to be. Nobody likes their job, and the staff is composed of people who have either been there 10+ years and are resigned to it, or are brand new and likely to resign. It's the kind of workplace that uses the term "family" to justify poor treatment. -Systems for communication are incredibly outdated and inefficient, which makes the crisis-workflow even worse.

Pros

One thing I can say about working at Paley: you’ll never be bored since there is something new every day! It is a fast-paced environment and all hands on deck for simultaneous projects, so always a chance to excel and do meaningful work. Colleagues really support each other and get to share their talents and feel appreciated.

Cons

If high-volume, fast-paced work and grace under pressure doesn’t suit you, Paley might not be the right fit. SInce Paley produces multiple programs each month, hours can be long during busy times.

Pros

The Paley Center for Media is a most extraordinary place to work. It is a front-row seat to unfolding modern history, to all that is going on across the broad idea of media. The sheer scope of the overall offerings is impressive, whether you work there or you are a visitor. As a long-time employee, I have witnessed and been a small part of the continual evolution of the cultural importance of media, which for a career, is immensely satisfying. Importantly, the work is a communal effort at Paley. Every position, every skill is essential to the overall mission. It is a joy to work with such talented and committed people, another aspect that makes Paley a special place to work. A company needs clear vision at the very top to ensure the institution is positioned to weather economic turmoil and in fact grow. CEO & President Maureen Reidy has skillfully guided Paley to re-find its identity as a museum to ensure the public knows that we are open and welcoming to all.

Cons

In order to offer such a rich array of public and industry programs, it is a very fast-paced environment. It will not be a good fit for people who aren't energized by that pace of working.
