Pros
It felt nice to contribute to the cause of environmental preservation
The office space is in a beautiful area
Some coworkers were actually extremely helpful & kind
Cons
Incredibly demeaning to work here when you are BIPOC, this organization allows their Development manager to create hostile working environments and does nothing but blame & ignore those people going through that manager's emotional dysregulation. There are receipts & enough is enough.
The organization also purposefully attempts to limit their event outreach to only those in the immediate wealthier areas of Palos Verdes, forget trying to include any predominantly BIPOC communities. Management actively instructed their outreach coordinator to not complete any marketing engagement with surrounding working class communities. They implied their nature hikes were getting too much "outside" attention and the city did not like it, so they agreed to follow those orders.
DO NOT donate to this organization if you are BIPOC, I implore you to find another more inclusive and conscientious organization to donate to that will use your hard earned money to invest in community events targeting environmental JUSTICE.
The work itself was also extremely boring; absolutely no intentions of career advancement. Be aware that this organization will not support your efforts to grow or expand in any way beyond your current role.
