Pros
- From day 1 you are doing real work. Co-workers respect and expect your ability to contribute meaningfully. - Flexible work schedule. Management is not micromanaging your hours or location. There is of course an expectation to do your work well and completely, but there is trust that you will. - Many opportunities to learn a lot quickly at this young company. If there's some area you're particularly interested in you are able to jump in and take ownership of that.
Cons
- Lower than market salaries and few if any benefits. - Lack of clarity about the future and direction of the company. This is perhaps true of any startup, but is nonetheless a reality. There are clear short term goals, but the long term goals tend to shift as different opportunities come up.
