Pros
People are great. Good work-life balance.
Cons
I usually don't write Glassdoor reviews, but think there are a number of issues at Pattern worth calling out to anyone thinking of joining. As many of the other recent reviews mention, Pattern had a lot of potential at the start, but the business, opportunities for growth and company culture have all disappeared in the last year. The leadership team has had no concrete, longer-term strategy since revenue started to decline, so they’ve relied on random layoffs and rash changes across marketing/e-comm/new acquisitions to create the appearance that everything is fine. Many of these changes don’t make sense, because they don’t lean into Pattern’s strong suits (the Gin Lane legacy and knowledge of how to build strong brands) and instead cheapen the brands and make customers upset. There is no transparency or trust between the c-suite and everyone else, so you’re likely to hear empty answers if you ask about issues, or will be told that your team is going to be audited in case the problem is you. Most of the team is now located outside of the US, which can be fine, but these contracted employees don’t sit close enough to the business to make meaningful recommendations that’ll improve performance. During my time there, most functions felt silo’ed from one another, while senior leadership ignored these communication issues and continued to look for cheaper labor. I really liked my team and learned a lot from them while I was at Pattern, but these concerns about the long-term direction and the people driving the vision made me want to leave as quickly as possible.
