Pros

Payfirma offered me a great opportunity to further my sales career here in Vancouver. I have been treated with nothing but fairness and respect from day one. I was promoted to Account Executive after 5 months working in a more junior role role. In my opinion (and I have lots of friends in similar jobs in startups in Vancouver) there is no other startup business where you have the opportunity to sell a product that all business actually need. I have built a book of business of over 200 companies in 7 months, most ppl I know in tech are lucky to get a few business' DMs on the phone per week. The compensation is based on the revenue you generate for the business not on where you went to school or who you know like a lot of places around town. The focus on profitability is refreshing in a space where business' have lost sight of this concept and rely on handouts that dry up in the long run. Payfirma has some excellent referral partners that keep the sales funnel topped up daily with highly qualified leads making the job of the Account Executive a lot easier and more productive. The sales process in Payfirma is so advanced that at times there are too many sales opportunities to handle (a great problem to have for a sales guy). There is never a day where you feel unproductive. Mentorship is taking seriously by the sales management and monthly one on ones are organised to talk about how to improve your skills and grow in the role. The group dynamic in the sales team is great and everyone helps and trusts each other. Everyone in the group will often hang out outside of work hours which is always a great sign of cohesive team. They are focused boarding new referral partners all the time to ensure continued growth in future qualified leads for the sales team. 4 weeks paid vacation/snacks/coffee/downtown location/generous residual commission

Cons

We used to have taco Tuesday once per month. This is no longer the case. We are under staffed in the support role at present but management have been busy hiring and training to fix his issue. The elevators in the new office building are really slow! They changed the trail mix lately... no bueno! Bring back the Costco mix. The dev team and the sales guys don't know each other.

Pros

Amazing downtown core location, catered lunches and snacks, beer o' clocks, being around talented ambitious young go getters, startup culture. Most importantly, not working there anymore.

Cons

Management had unrealistic goals for achieving sales targets. Places blame on employees for not hitting targets when really, they should be evaluating the competitive market space they are in that's responsible for their results. Adequate Help/training wasn't offered when requested. The excessive so called "training" was cost ineffective (waste of money), unnecessary, and inappropriate to the role which is essentially cold calling. Aim for quality of training, not quantity of training in the length of time provided. When asked for help/feedback/support, it was provided very brief and verbally quick so managers can go back to their original tasks. Its as if they give it so they can do a mental checkbox in their heads, yup, I did help out when my subordinate asked. When really, it didn't suffice. Company is full of employees in their early to mid twenties who base their self worth/self esteem as a human being on how much results oriented accomplishments they've created at work so they can get pats on the back from management. Living in a society today with high divorce rates and the lack of strong father power in the family unit, these employees in their twenties and thirties have essentially replaced a father figure in their life with a boss and seek their approval by gladly working long hours to hit sales targets for pats on the back. Creates negative energy in the office. Seems like the only way to keep your job or to get promoted in this company, you need a BCIT cabinet building skill on your resume or have an intimate relationship with the CEO

Pros

- Great perks - salary, overall benefits, educational program and free food - Flexibility was offered depending on your role - Some manager's were amazing to work with and they offered solid solutions

Cons

- As the reviewer who wrote this review, subject title: "Don't be fooled by this CEO!" - is accurate in their assessment. Majority of these reviews are written by current employee's within the organization or the CEO. This is not displaying a level of transparency or abiding by your corporate values. The overall culture is disgusting - definitely signs of bullying being displayed by senior management, including the CEO. New employee's that were hired that displayed a level of positivity, maturity, solid experience within their field were shortly bullied by senior manager's for being different. Some key senior manager's had their own agenda and they didn't help the organization to progress to the next level. Many great people left on their accordance due to many of these issues that were posted on Glassdoor. Feedback was provided but nothing changed until there were major lay-offs in December 2015.
