We work way too many hours. We usually see a bit of a slowdown in the winter, but not during the last few years. The CEO has been pushing for “double digit growth” while we are losing more and more people. Everyone is tired and overworked. We are working ten hour shifts and Saturdays right up to Christmas. If you’ve been here long enough, you get some vacation time. But outside of vacation, work life balance isn’t really a thing. If they need you here, you have to be here. And they always need you to be here, for ten hour shifts and Saturdays.
We just went through a pay restructuring that got rid of our quarterly bonuses in order to raise pay a bit and be more competitive. However, those who got the lowest raises in the restructuring were the ones who have been here the longest. This makes us feel that our time and experience aren’t valued at all. They are scrambling to get workers in here, while doing nothing to keep the ones we have.
