Pros
Culture: This company has an amazing culture. As it is a tech (consulting) start-up, the average age seems to be around the late 20's as there are many fresh college grads, and a handful of senior members. The result is a young atmosphere of professionals who inspire each other both in the workplace, as well as outside the workplace. Most of the company works on client sites on Monday - Thursday. Friday, however, is a day where everything comes together. There are catered lunches, happy hours (both in the office and then out of the office), and a short work day. Fridays are certainly a "differentiator" which allows the company to give great internal training, while keeping a light atmosphere. In addition the company hosts events, such as offisite company weekend retreats, charity events, charity bar crawls, outdoor activities and more. If you have an idea of a fun company event, people are told to feel free to bring it up! The Job: It's not a normal 9-5 cubicle "well I guess this is my life now" kind of job. Each day brings new challenges and you are expected to work to conquer such challenges. The variety expels boredom out the window. HOWEVER, there is the expectation that you will be able to keep up, and learn. No one will be mad for not knowing how to do something, but you are expected to be able to learn how to do it (from a co-worker normally), and then retain the knowledge for future work. The important thing is that everyone wants everyone to succeed. There is no "office drama" that I hear so much about. The hierarchy of the company is setup to reward success, both individual and team success. One person's failure will not boost another's career path. The result is a safe and fun work environment. Fast Growing: We have an absurd growth rate. The result of which is opportunity for the hard and dedicated workers. Company is about 5 years old, while we had growth through each year, there's been an extreme expansion over last year alone. The company won multiple growth awards, and is forecasted to continue to do so. Getting in early will allow personal growth in a company with a BIG future.
Cons
Hours: Be prepared to work. Your work week is essentially Mon - Thrus for client related work (See "Pros" for Friday). However work has due dates, deadlines must be met, therefore late nights are required. But with everything there is a balance, sometimes the work gets done in a timely matter and your week is shorter. I personally do not see this as a "con" however many think that a 40 hour week is all that is required. This is a heads up that it is NOT a 40 hour a week job. Promotion Structure is Linear: The structure is quite simple, this is good in some respects as it allows an "easier" climb of the ladder. Each level has expectations of the employee, if you have met that expectation you will most likely be promoted. What this prevents is a skill gap within each position. Salary is generally based on the level you are on, and rarely does it increase without a promotion. It allows experienced members on the cusp of a position to stay at a lower salary while the "newer" members of the tier are being paid the same. Perhaps this is common practice among companies, and is thus "normal". I personally would like to see the opportunity to get a "raise" without a required "Promotion". That being said, there's lots of room to grow still, and you can come up with your own projects that you can pursue in your spare time. This can allow you to be a leader in the company for certain items and enable you to grow all the much faster Now an explanatioon of the Ratings: Note that these are not necessarily Cons Career Opportunities: 4/5 - Much room to grow, not a 5/5 due to how linear it is . Compensation & Benefits: 3/5 - Compensation is competitive with similar positions, but seems to be on the "lighter" side. Not underpaid per se, but you may find a slightly better offer. However, what you gain in salary you lose in culture and quality of life. Due to how new the company is, the benefits are still adapting as it grows. Peloton has good dental and medical coverage, and a 3% 401k Match program. Which is not bad, but not so amazing that we drop everything and flock to it. The benefits will get better as time goes on however. Work/Life Balance: 4/5 - This is largely up for debate and is entirely dependent on your life style. As a relatively young college graduate, I do not mind the long hours during the week, with the relaxing Friday. People with families may have a different opinion, but they also generally have a different work/life balance (leaving work earlier and then working from home). I do not wish to speak for everyone on this matter as it too large a variable. Senior Management 5/5: They lead well, make great strategic decisions, but most importantly you are not disconnected from them. You can email, talk, call any of them, and discuss any topic. They do not have arrogance and they are all willing to help you out to teach you anything. Culture % Values: 5/5 See "Pros". This is Peloton's strongest component, and is what keeps producing amazing employees and keeps them with minimal turnover.
