Pros
Great people who are willing to go above and beyond to be a team-player. Probably some of the most hard working people I've ever worked with. Flexible schedule and some attractive perks (unlimited vacation, video games, rooftop bar, King St location, bike-share, dogs, etc.)
Cons
Management does a lot of preaching, primarily from the CEO, and the rest of management becomes his mouth piece. Management doesn't have enough stake in the game to truly be the voice for their employees. It's the typical, I'll- say-it-over-and-over-again-and-eventually-you'll-believe-it kind of mentality from upper management. While the fun "culture" and great people are what keep people here, I don't think the confidence in where the company is headed is strong. It'll be 3 months of upper management being 100% certain about where the company is headed and then you'll be thrown a curveball in the 4th month. It's been proven true time and time again. If you're looking for a fast paced "think about the details later" environment, this is the place for you. Putting in extra time is the norm and not the exception. Commitments are aggressive and already pre-determined by others before it gets down to the people who are actually doing the work. Managers don't really know how to position their employees for career growth within the company. It's a rat race. There's no time for development; we're just trying to make it through the next quarter, the next release, the next implementation. And repeat. Have thick skin. Learn the PeopleMatter way. You'll be okay here. Advice to candidates -- Ask a lot of questions. Know what you're getting into.
