Pros
I enjoyed working in the office, answered the phones as-needed. I enjoyed talking with our vendors, and the mental work needed to figure out some of those invoices! When product (dog/cat food) was recalled I had to take product out of inventory and out of the system. After a few years (I was there for over 8 years) I could just enjoy the music, work the normal invoices, make sure the office was cared for. Calm job after you know the ropes!
Cons
Quality employees are overlooked. Overseen by a very close-minded Joe Perkins (District Manager, NOT the store manager Tony Frye - who is great!). Because of Joe, myself and other employees did not have even a review (constructive comments to improve our work)/raise in over a 6 year period. Joe is very sexist, believes "my way or the highway" and (as said directly to me during one of his visits to the store) "You are lucky to be working at Pet Extreme and not Petco". Joe is strangling the stores (several Pet Extreme and Discount Pet stores, 10 in all) with his attitude, not adjusting to changing to the new work environments, and preventing stores from growing and prospering, and his "your lucky to be working" attitude unfortunately filters to the employees, prompting LOW morale throughout the chain.
