Pros
I enjoy working here because I love animals, especially dogs, and this job allows me to work hands on with animals on a daily basis. I enjoy my co-workers. I love my pay! And the location is very convieniant. It is a small company, with few employees so it really feels like family for the kennel staff. There are plenty of hours available, and when you need a certain day off, there is usually no reason you wont get that day off. The people are nice, the facility is amazing, and the paycheck is one of the best in the business for the city it is in regarding the industry.
Cons
Since it is a newly opened franchise, management could use a few courses on how to do scheduling, communicating correctly (verbally) to employees, as well as thinking more about the employees life outside of work. Regardless of how much we like making money and doing our job, we have families outside of work. The kennel needs more employees! There is NO benefits until you have been here for like a year! Breaks are complicated and difficult to take on the day shift. Safety for employees is an issue, we were robbed the first month open, and no alarm system or specialized safety monitoring device additional to what already existed has been installed. It is also frustrating when the one in charge knows less about pets than you and yet doesnt seem to trust your opinion, advice, or capabilities with the dogs when you have been doing more than this for years!
