Pros
Remote work was available with hard negotiation
Cons
I was hired with this company to contract into financial tech for a major bank. I was told upon recruitment that I would be eligible for a 6% bonus. After a year with this company, I had received no bonus and my pay was cut 7% during the worst inflation in 40 years . To top it off, the bank I was contracted into offered more holidays than Photon. Photon's solution to this was to force all of us to use our paid time off for federal holidays like MLK Day and Juneteenth. The effect was virtually no work life balance. When I quit, citing the pay cut as my primary reason, an HR rep called me insisting that "it was not a pay cut" but "variable pay." When I wouldn't relent to her euphemism, telling her my paycheck spoke "pay cut" she continued to gaslight the whole situation. This company has the hallmarks of every abusive relationship--encouraging hope without ever delivering on promises; taking away agency; then gaslighting the whole situation to make the victim appear "crazy" for calling it out.
