Pros

My experience was largely positive, in all fairness. I took full advantage of the opportunity to learn and grow as a psychotherapist while working with a marginalized and high risk population, as well as becoming a clinical supervisor for MSWs. I have since moved on to work in private practice and I owe all of my clinical skills to working with my awesome clients at PWC.

Cons

That being said, this place is run by snakes. I won't go into too much detail since you can see for yourself in the other reviews and a Google search. Whatever you have heard about PWC is probably true. Therapists working towards their clinical hours, especially social workers, should be aware that turnover is high, up to and including clinical supervisors. There is no guarantee of consistent or uninterrupted clinical supervision. While this is a common problem for community mental health agencies in general, the PWC seemed particularly indifferent about consistently providing this to therapists. At a rate of pay of about $17/hour for Masters Level unlicensed clinicians, the job is pretty much worthless without the clinical supervision. While my experience was positive, it required a lot of luck and a little bit of savviness. I had to learn to play office politics while tolerating a lot of unprofessional nonsense in order for me to carve out a somewhat unique niche there. It's possible to succeed at PWC, but the odds are stacked against employees at all levels. Consider my 3-star rating as the mean of my 5-star experience and a 1-star recommendation to work there (if that makes sense). P.S. I likened working at PWC to being an employee at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant and would refer to directors as "Mr. Burns" because there are security cameras everywhere at all sites. Get used to being watched at all hours by insecure and nosy upper management, some of whom have little else to do. "Smithers, let's fire some employees! Excellent."
