Pros
My coworkers are extremely talented, hardworking, present people who genuinely try to create wonderful and educational experiences for guests. I’ve never been part of such a cohesive team that is dedicated to sharing ideas and collaborating. Most everyone I worked with is well versed in early childhood education and bring a lot of experience to the table. There are great opportunities to learn about early childhood educational development with the Museum Learning department.
Cons
There is a serious lack of transparency and communication from executive leadership and front-of-house employees. Leadership doesn’t take into account front-of-house perspectives and make drastic decisions that most harshly affect front-of-house staff. There is an unusually high turnover rate, with mass hiring, hiring freezes, and layoffs all happening within one quarter. This means the team is constantly changing and readjusting without ever really settling in.
