Pros

- Great place to grow and learn a lot, especially if you are junior. 6 months at Potloc can feel like 2 years anywhere else! - Great office location - Work-life balance was generally solid and was one of the few places where I felt like I could take a lunch break without being judged - 4 weeks of vacation - Team spirit within particular teams / departments was generally strong - Most employees and even senior management are generally nice and approachable.

Cons

- Below average pay which hurts motivation; a big part of our salaries were also variable pay based on quarterly sales targets (which the company hasn't achieved or exceeded in over a year and a half). Interns were paid minimum wage when I was there! -Low team morale as the company goes through budget cuts and layoffs; budget cuts limited ability for people to get promotions and pay raises in particular. Company vibe unfortunately changed a lot from 2022 to 2023 as the company went from rapidly growing to plateauing to ultimately downsizing. -Lots of gossip / drama / passive aggressive infighting amongst employees, especially Delivery vs Sales and Montreal vs Paris. - The company gives preferential treatment to the Sales team in terms of perks and pay (i.e. sending the Sales team and management on a trip to Mexico weeks after telling many employees they couldn't get pay raises due to budget cuts, after a quarter where the Sales team was only at around 60% of its sales target and a year where they did not acheive their overall sales targets) and it does not sit well with others - Leadership team that is not particularly experienced, especially in the market research field - Company vision seemingly changes every 6 months which means if you are aligned with the company vision upon joining, that might not last. You see a lot of turnover and instability (even at the leadership level) as a result

Pros

There are a handful of great employees

Cons

This company is highly mismanaged and unstable. When I joined, I believed it was a growing organization, but in reality, about 75 employees have either been laid off or resigned since I started less than a year ago. Financial Instability and Misrepresentation During the interview process, leadership misrepresented the company’s financial health, painting an overly optimistic picture. In reality, the company is far from profitable and is running dangerously low on cash. Once this became apparent, it was clear that the company was in serious financial trouble. Product and Pricing Issues The company’s core product, which is supposed to be its competitive advantage, is fundamentally flawed and does not work in the US. Due to its inefficiencies, over 90% of the data is outsourced, leading to excessive markups on every deal. This not only erodes competitiveness but also makes the offering unsustainable in the long run. Sales Leadership and Management Failures Sales leadership is deeply unqualified, making erratic decisions that hurt both employees and revenue. The recent resignation of our Sales Director, with no plans to backfill the role, underscores the lack of leadership value. The remaining sales manager frequently switches accounts, rejects viable deals, withholds critical information, and engages in rapid hiring and firing cycles. Over the past year, more than 10 New York sales reps have come and gone, a staggering turnover rate considering the office only has around 8 employees currently. This speaks volumes about the toxic culture and instability. Unfair Practices and Internal Favoritism Management allows the European office to violate territory rules and poach U.S. deals without consequences. This favoritism further demotivates the U.S. sales team and highlights the company’s lack of structured support for its employees. Future Outlook and Final Warning The company has already undergone two significant layoffs in recent months, and more cuts seem inevitable. Given the current trajectory, I would not be surprised if the company ceases to exist within the next year or two. If you're considering an opportunity here, my advice is simple: avoid this company at all costs.
