Pros

Numerous projects with government, company is continuously growing. They have big expensive holiday parties. Occasional education opportunities.

Cons

not great work environment (at most of the projects there are absolutely no chance to work from home), strict time policies, must be in office 8 hours(on some projects). Work-life balance- not great. If snow day or government shutdown happen.... too bad - you will be siting at home with no money or using your priceless PTO!

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you found the educational opportunities useful. We have actually expanded on our training and development program and have established an online training portal (PowertekU) for our employees, which offers thousands of online technology courses for free to all employees. I am sorry to hear that your experience was not what you were seeking in a work environment. It is true that most of our projects require being in the office or onsite with the customer, but we find the majority of our employees enjoy this collaborative environment where they are able to interface directly with the customer. We agree snow days are no fun! However, we do try to make alternate arrangements for employees where possible, allow them to borrow leave if needed, and in the case of government shutdown have even created an Emergency Relief Fund for exactly this purpose. We appreciate your input and wish you well in your future endeavors.

Pros

Fellow coworkers on the contract were friendly and reasonable people. Insurance options for vision and dental were appreciated.

Cons

Powertek failed to send my resignation email to HR with a months advance notice. I informed them of my intent to take my last week of PTO in the email, which they acknowledged. Thursday, the week before my last week, they informed me that HR has given a mandate that I cannot take the last week, and they moved my end date to Friday the next day. They refused to allow me to donate my excess PTO which was set to be used for the next week, and refused to give me a copy of the employee handbook on request, since they ended access to the company intranet. They will adhere to their legal obligations, but will otherwise try to avoid working with you when they stand to benefit. Such as to avoid paying out over 40 hours of PTO.
