Great place to start but after 5 years it is time to leave - Senior Project Engineer Pratt & Whitney Employee Review

Pros

Used to have great education benefits and you can gain experience quickly.

Cons

"Put your time in" attitude makes those who are motivated and talented very frustrated. Career progression in engineering in particular is painfully slow. Pay is targeted at the low end of industry and you are almost guaranteed to be under paid your entire time at the company and you are told that no one can correct that. If you are smart and motivated, this is not a good place to spend a career. If you want a 9-5 and little accountability and are willing to give up pay and career progression, this may be the right place for you.

Pros

Plenty of opportunity to move up within the company. Willing to pay for schooling through Raytheon's education program. Plenty of PTO and sick time.

Cons

I feel that the location I was at did not pay competitively.

Pros

Decent pay and good benefits.

Cons

Personnel reporting to me had apparently looked up my political affiliation (which I had never mentioned) and took exception to it by sabotaging work that I had supervised. This was well before 2022 - actually 2015-2016 (2022 is earliest review date I could select). I was just now remembering it. This polarized political posture was a function of the plant being near Harrisburg, PA which, at least then, was a somewhat "redneckish" area. I have never discussed my politics at work, so it seemed absurd of them to look up my party affiliation and take issue with it.
