The owners look at you as someone on their team, not as another employee in the office. Your feedback, ideas, and commentary are appreciated and encouraged. The owners value your time, effort, and diligence. Every project you work on isn't the same, so it is hard to get bored working here. The environment is super casual and relaxed so wearing a suit and tie or formal attire is not necessary. Everyone in the office is easy to talk to, no intimidation from other team members, and communication isn't forced. Hours are flexible, PTO requests are almost always accepted, and benefits are amazing. The coworkers are funny, laid back, and an overall positive place to be during the work week.

The location isn't ideal for most since it is in Plainfield, but you would know that entering the job. Every other "con" is subjective to personal opinion. Personally, I'd say the only other con for me is that deadlines can be stressful, but that comes with any job.

- Nobody at the company knows anything about modern web applications, so I was able to make architectural decisions as an individual contributor - Casual dress attire - One time, someone came in from Famous Dave's with free samples

- Criminally low pay. - ZERO benefits (no insurance, no 401k, nothing) - You won't be able to go a single day without hearing racist or misogynistic comments by one of the heads of the company. - 8AM - 5PM without paid lunch - False promises on every single aspect of your career or the growth of the company (I was told there would be a raise after 3-6 months of good performance, a new office location was promised for over a year before I joined) - You might be encouraged to use obsolete technologies like Visual Basic, ADO.Net, and WebForms because that's what other people are familiar with. - There was an entire week in the office where there were no less than a hundred flies buzzing around because an animal died in the shop area upstairs. There was no exterminator hired. We were given the cheapest fly swatters and had to take care of it ourself. - Sometimes you'll be told "what" to do, and "how" to do it. - Claims to be a startup and Agile environment, when in reality, it's just poorly managed financially and day to day. Rather focusing on improving their core product and working on effective sales, you'll be asked to work on something for a new side business for the company nearly every month. There are no less than 6 "companies" being run out of that office by the same few people. - The A/C is put at such a low temperature for one person that you'll need a second layer in summer. - Headphones are discouraged. So instead, you get to hear four different genres of music blasting at the same time from everyone else's offices. - Working remotely may become an option after a point in time, but you're at the mercy of whenever a particular boss works from home that day too. And you won't know that until the day before.
