Pros
- Pay and benefits are decent - Some really great people in the Tech organization; people that care for one another and have each others' backs - Customers really do appreciate the product/service that we offer - New CIO recently hired is making waves in a good way! He genuinely listens to employees, understands the major issues, and has put together a plan to take the Tech organization to the next level.
Cons
- The company tries to do too much at once; in general, leadership accepts and commits to work that has not been vetted by the product and engineering teams. - The software change control group has been crippling this company; for years, they have made no improvements to the manual processes required for deploying to production, and the leadership of the department blame other people and teams for the poor state of their own affairs. - There's way too much red tape in the software development process; I promise you: Accounting and Compliance do not need to sign off on every single story/ticket of work. (Other tech and fintech companies don't do it that way.) If Progressive truly wants to be a Fintech as they claim they do, they need to get Accounting and Compliance to stop making them function like a bank from the 1970s.
