Pros

The people are what make the company. Everyone that works there, by the nature of the company, is incredibly nice and optimistic. They're always helpful and always willing to lend a hand. It's also very inspiring to hear stories from the volunteers after they return from their projects, hearing about the work they achieved and where they got to explore. The team are also eager to get the staff working on new project ideas, however big or small. If you're lucky, and a hard worker, you may also get the opportunity to spend a month or two overseas in the summer working with the volunteers and international teams or even travelling to develop project ideas further before they can be launched.

Cons

One of the downsides of these perks and working in this kind of business is that you won't be earning a high salary. You'll certainly be earning enough for a living wage and you'll be able to support yourself but sometimes the workload may not match the monetary gain. Most of those that work hard are given small salary bumps over the years but rather than hikes in their salary through promotions, they are often awarded international travel and work opportunities. This won't be a negative to everyone though as these experiences are unforgettable and incredibly rewarding.

Pros

Excellent support from local staff as a volunteer; I did two of their programs, so was very inclined to return. I also found the other volunteers to be great!

Cons

Can't think of too many related to the program itself. Great balance between independence and onsite assistance.

Pros

Great opportunity to live in a foreign locale and so some amazing work. I personally filmed throughout the himalayas, photographed in the jungles of Southern Nepal, and wrote stories on the streets of Kathmandu.

Cons

The pay is ridiculously low, and the structure is not very great. Most of your managers are thousands of miles away, so you must be very self sufficient.
