Pros

- Starting compensation is competitive - Middle management is competent and caring - New products have generated a renewed energy - Small company culture - Fun office events

Cons

- Leadership is nonexistent. Middle management wants to be able to communicate to lower levels, but they are told absolutely nothing from leadership beyond standard corporate-speak. The CEO blog is worthless...it's just stream-of-consciousness and not honest talk about where we are and what it will take to get us to where we need to be. - Financial health of the company is very concerning. Losses in 2008, 2009 and H1 2011, while barely profitable in 2010. It is very difficult to have much confidence in the financial success of the company in the very near future. - Recent layoffs within management were not well thought through, and seemed to be a knee-jerk reaction to the financial situation of the company. There have been huge unforeseen consequences since then which should have been better anticipated by those making the decisions.

Pros

The mangers were so wrapped up in their own problems little time was spent addressing issues. If your so inclined you have the freedom to run your own business plan.

Cons

Business on the decline. Product prices did not reflect actual market value. Senior married managers having relationships with female married employees. The HR department just overlooked it all. Including the female HR manager having an affair with a male employee. He was fired and she saved. Manager meetings included creating hit lists of who to keep and who to dump. Then talking negatively about those people in the management meetings. Similar to the lunch room in junior high school. Painful to sit in those meeting or to be around managers in after hours business situations. Toxic environment with no upward movement available.
