Pros
- Smart people to work with - Will learn a lot, can advance in your career if you put in lots of time - You’ll learn to work under high pressure
Cons
- Requirement to be 100% billable. This calls for a lot more hours required of you to finish tasks but you are expected to list only 40 hours on your time card. The extremely tight budgets and short deadlines don’t allow room to breathe when complications on projects come up (which is almost all engineering projects). You are expected to fix the problems no matter how long it takes but can only charge a few hours just to meet the budget. No one likes working for free! - Micromanagement. Managers will be breathing down your neck on your assignments. Plus they will question the time you spent on each task when going through your time card with you. - Stressful. They preach about work/life balance and not burning you out but you are expected to work way more than 40 hours/week. -A few snobby managers (probably due to the stress) - Long climb up to management
