No cons it is great working here

Public Prep even with all its flaws was a place that attracted genuine educators who cared about kids and it fostered a team dynamic. In my time there, we were earnestly trying to improve instruction and the student and family experience. While we may not have always gone about things the right way, the vision and mission for the organization was real. As a staff member, your colleagues were your family and we took care of each other. I’ve never worked somewhere that the families were so supportive of what we were trying to do. They really bought into the single gender model and rode for us.

This 1 star review is because Public Prep is now under new management from Excellence Schools and everything is going to change. No matter how much they deny it, the single gender model will be done away with in 1-2 years. This new leadership does not care about engaging families and students, only test scores. They intentionally kept everyone in the dark during the merger because they wanted to weed anyone with an ounce of independent thinking out. They kept the families in the dark too to make them desperate so they couldn’t go to another good school. Excellence pays less for more work and feels like they OWN you. If you’re looking for a job at Public Prep based on its old reputation, I’d encourage you to run toward another organization that is going to remain community driven and student centered.
