Pros

Its in a nice area, and the people who work there are overall nice people. The store is clean and some of the management is ok.

Cons

Opportunity to advance is basically non existent even though they will tell you otherwise on your interview. I was promised full time in 6 mths and its been almost a year. 'Fraternizing" is ok, because we have managers, rooming with non managers and there is alot of favortism. I was given 40 hrs a week but they wouldnt change my classification to full time, they always want me to work over my scheduled time but then take it back at the end of the workweek. One guy was mad that I got a "promotion". He is one that shares a house with a manager and three months later, I was back to overnight stocking, 21 hours a week and the crybaby was in my position that they moved me from...When I said something to the grocery manager, his response was "You better be thankful I gave you 3 days" I took a 5.00 per hour pay cut to work for Publix, after working at walmart for 11yrs BECAUSE they made me think I would move up in the company. I'm currently working out my 2 wk notice because I was hired at another company, straight into management, full time and more pay. Im sure Publix was a great place to work at one time, but now that I have been there for a year, I found out otherwise!

Pros

Pay and bonus structure is competitive.

Cons

Work life balance, company has double standards for those wanting to move up. -No consistency, moving target in terms of moving up. Made to feel guilty if you have family challenges that may need your undivided attention in terms to calling out. Once your a manager, they seem to put you anywhere close to your home. One time a manager was placed 57 miles, one way from home (60 miles requires relocation package). When topic is brought up to be closer to home, the response is, "you know this was part of the perks of being a manager".
