Pros
- decent wages - great benefits - IF you can get full time, which you can’t
Cons
- No communication between managers - Barely any training, and then you’re criticized for not being trained by the person who should have trained you - There are literally no options for severely disabled folks: I chose Publix specifically because of their reputation for being good for disabled employees, and it made my life a living hell. I was told there was no position in the store where I would be able to sit even occasionally, resulting in my passing out at work multiple times. I was also told that I had to go to the employee lounge every time I wanted so much as a sip of water, while the managers and non-disabled employees were allowed to drink coffee and soft drinks in the food prep area. The bakery manager told me that if I was, quote, “limping out of here late every night, that’s nobody’s fault but [mine.]” I would not recommend Publix to anyone with any disability at all; they were completely unwilling to work with me and basically told me to find a work-from-home job.
