Pros
The structure of the organisation is based on volunteers applying their skills and abilities to the work that Quilombo UK is doing. There are specific departments that volunteers are brought in to work within. This is of benefit to volunteers as they have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in their chosen fields that will be transferable to their future roles whilst making a difference within their community. The team are focused, creative and enthusiastic with great spirit. Everyone understands that they are working together towards a very important and necessary cause, especially in today's climate.
Cons
To some, the structure of the organisation can be difficult. Even though it is explained through the interviewing process some volunteers see their roles more like work experience rather than as a key part of what Quilombo UK is trying to achieve. Some of these people come to understand the structure and enjoy their experience whilst others become unhappy and leave.
