Pros
The people you suffer with leads to great camaraderie. Common knowledge that certain leaders are toxic and a few good people that try to buffer the challenges. Love connecting with old colleagues to see how much better life is once they leave.
Cons
Too many to list unfortunately. Steer clear. Constant layoffs and churn but somehow the most vile of people still are in leadership roles. Direct manager are often good but the directors and especially GM of genomics are more than willing to sacrifice team members to let their egos stay in tact. Poor pay and agree with other comments that this has now become a sweatshop that manages to retain employees that have no other option to find work. Please be kind to yourselves and explore other career options to get out of this toxic environment.
