Challenging and rewarding but with lots of work - Anonymous employee R1 RCM Employee Review

Pros

Company is growing so fast that it is essential to move quickly. Responsibility is granted early and often. Most of the time you have to create your work guidelines and then execute. Opportunities to learn new technology is encouraged by upper management. Lots of problems exist however each is an oppotunity to learn and advance if you have the desire to follow through.

Cons

Unclear work standards and process definition. Very long work hours 60hrs/wk. The personal vs work balance is definitely towards work however given the economic times is not unexpected.

Pros

The voluntary separation offer was good.

Cons

I and hundreds of colleagues were transferred from Providence Health & Services to R1. We were told we were guaranteed our jobs for a year. They started offering voluntary separation packages less than a year in. This was suspicious. I didn't take the first couple of offers, but eventually I did - things were feeling uneasy. Since leaving I've heard that there were several layoffs. R1's India team has taken over a lot of the coding we were doing. In the reviews I read before we started with R1 I know losing jobs to the India team was common. I'm glad I left when I did but it's been hard finding a new job.
