Pros

Salary and benefits are competitive IF you can keep your job.

Cons

The company has unrealistic requirements and workload expectations of their employees. There is a lot of cheesy jargon used in meetings that are unnecessary to begin with. They tend to merge with other companies and hire their HIM and coding employees, then proceed to lay off half of those employees to hire cheap labor in India. It’s bad business.

Pros

The voluntary separation offer was good.

Cons

I and hundreds of colleagues were transferred from Providence Health & Services to R1. We were told we were guaranteed our jobs for a year. They started offering voluntary separation packages less than a year in. This was suspicious. I didn't take the first couple of offers, but eventually I did - things were feeling uneasy. Since leaving I've heard that there were several layoffs. R1's India team has taken over a lot of the coding we were doing. In the reviews I read before we started with R1 I know losing jobs to the India team was common. I'm glad I left when I did but it's been hard finding a new job.
