Pros

Plenty of great co-workers and opportunities to learn—you'll be encouraged to approach problems in a new way. It's a lovely office, and the relative transparency with where the company is going makes it easy to feel engaged.

Cons

Reviews that call RH a cult are true, as are the reviews that rave about the place. It's all of those things. Your experience will depend on who you are and what you're looking for. The people who seem to do best at RH are the ones who are always available, who can navigate the culture that is overtly made in the image of the CEO (which is to say, who parrot whatever the CEO says as if they said it themselves), who can recite every word of the vision, values, and beliefs, and who are comfortable wielding influence through fear. If you are invigorated by long hours, values meetings, and publicly pledging allegiance to Gary Friedman (and all of those things are OK if that's for you), you'll do well at RH. If you like stability, to have at least a general sense of what is going to happen tomorrow, space to speak freely without being immediately shut down, and going home at a reasonable hour without worry that you're going to receive untold number of texts and emails while you are with your family (and all of those things are OK if that's for you), RH is not for you.

Pros

One of the strongest aspects of this role is the autonomy. I’m trusted to make decisions that genuinely support the customer experience without constant approval from leadership. If I believe an exchange plus a $250 gift card is the right solution to preserve a relationship, I’m empowered to do that. That level of trust creates confidence and allows us to move quickly when issues arise. Leadership is accessible when needed, especially in escalated situations. I’ve never felt left alone to manage something beyond my scope. There is also regular voluntary overtime available, which is a plus for those looking to increase their hours. For someone transitioning from another industry, the environment feels more structured and brand-focused, which has been refreshing

Cons

The clientele can be challenging. Some customers assume that spending thousands of dollars entitles them to treat frontline employees disrespectfully, even when those employees had no involvement in the original issue. It can also be frustrating to hold a boundary with a customer, only to see it reversed after escalation. While I understand the desire to preserve relationships, it can unintentionally undermine employee confidence and consistency in standards. Because RH carries so many collections and product variations, the learning curve is steep. Customers often expect immediate, detailed product knowledge, which takes time to develop.
